Lots of interesting links in a wide variety of topics. My mom is always dishing out tidbits of information that she's heard from medical and psychological studies and debates. I'll have to pass this post along to her. It'll give her plenty of new things to read and lecture me about!

There are so many great posts here Walter. You did such a great job on putting this together. Neonatal Doc's post was just a kick in the gut. I think the death of a child is the absolute worst thing to have to see people suffering through. It was so right, there are no words..the only thing you can truly do in those cases is to let them know you care about what they are going through. Just let them know you care...

I second anna v objection to the post on Oliver. The post is a textbook example of just how easy it is for well meaning parents, or really anyone for that matter, to fall prey to fallacies inherent in human thinking and to basing treatment decisions on questionable anecdotes. I hope that parents out there are not subjecting their children to unneccesary elimination diets based on the largely inaccurate medical information in the post. I also second anna v in saying that I am glad that Oliver is now perceived by his mother as having improved, although he is most likely following a normal course of development from what was described in her post.

Just an observation on the description of Cindy Kelly's blog -- Oliver wasn't diagnosed as autistic. It's a bit of a kick in the face for parents of kids who are autistic to read that someone fixed autism at 18 months simply by diet. I'm glad Oliver is doing so well but one month of gluten free is not going to cure autism by a long shot.
